Georgia Tech and Guns

A group of Georgia Tech students are helping to train college students on the proper use of firearms. Due to a recent outburst in off-campus crimes, the students wanted to help their friends to be able to protect themselves. The group meets once a month, and many say they already feel safer.

This is wonderful. The second amendment is perhaps the most controversial of them all, but circumstances like this show why we need to protect it. Guns do not kill people, people kill people with guns. They could do the same with a common steak knife, but we don’t see any protests against cutlery do we?

The second amendment is one of many that makes America so uniquely amazing. The ability to protect yourself has been a common goal for all Americans since the founding of the country, and remains to be for most sane people. By removing the second amendment, not only will America loose a part of itself and its core values, but it will not fix anything. If anything, it will make the problem worse. Saying no guns will not stop people from obtaining and using guns. I saw something on a democrat’s blog about a rape culture (which is not real by the way.) They basically said that just because rape is against the law, people wont stop doing it (they tied that in with drugs as well.) The same goes for guns. People who want to hurt others will always be able to get their hands on a weapon, and everyone would be in a much better place if they also has a weapon to defend themselves.

This is why what the college students at Georgia Tech are doing is so important. They are using their rights to make their community a better and safer place.

Defend the second amendment, defend yourself, defend America.
